Louw & Myrtle | Santorini, GREECE

12/1/2017

Greece definitely takes a top 5 spot on my favourite travels and to do something I love in a place I love is best of both worlds!  When I visited Greece I spent some time in Athens and Santorini and met these two lovely souls on my trip to Santorini.

Louw and Myrtle were also from South Africa and enjoying a romantic holiday at the very famous Chromata Hotel in Santorini overlooking the Caldera.  After spending some time together with the couple and learning one another's professions, Myrtle and Louw booked me for a couple session.  These white simplistic surroundings are any photographes dream and I couldn't resist capturing this respectful love they have for one another.

This shoot has been featured on The Pretty Blog.

Daffodil & Mitchel

Once in a while I get a lovely client requests from Sweet Escape for clients traveling from overseas who would like to capture a beautiful South African sunset because you don't get these anywhere else! Daffodil and Mitchell came all the way from Singapore to visit our beautiful country and spending the afternoon with them was so refreshing and a lot of fun. Exchanging "In South Africa" and "In our country" stories are my favorite!

I wish you a safe journey back and will meet you soon in Cape Town.

A tropical vilanculos experience

Sharing an amazing tropical Vilanculos experience I had photographing the beautiful and exquisite Sail Marapi Lodge situated in Pontao Marapi. It might take a flight and a charter or a 2 days drive but when you reach this little piece of paradise it's definitely worth the travel. This is the perfect luxury lodge for a big family or group of friends and even perfect for a destination wedding or honeymoon. The friendly and warm hearted staff will make you feel at home and spoil you with the finest food. Real Mozambican cuisines and fresh daily catch of the day will leave you mouth watering and excited for the next meal! They offer the best deep sea fishing trips as well as picnics and exotic yacht trips around the island. For those who love to just soak up the sun and swim can enjoy a private beach experience right in front of the lodge. I can't wait for my next visit to Sail Marapi, plan yours at www.sailmarapi.com

Bas & Inge's Tuscany Wedding | Italy

10/24/2016

"No one can take the one that is destined for you"
- Italian Proverb
This South African couple, Bas and Inge, got married at the Castle of Bibbione situated between Florence and Sienna in the utterly romantic region, Tuscany, Italy.  This couple were high school sweet hearts and decide to get married 2 years ago.  From the start they knew that they wanted to get married aboard, with Inge being a creative she knew she wanted something different.  They left their hearts in Italy when they both went to work on yachts and docked at the Italian coast for a month.  As soon as they got engaged Inge started searching for venues in the region of Florence, she loved the idea of a Castle with Villas to accommodate all the guests.  Bas & Inge loves travelling and they both realised that there is nothing more special than to share a travelling experience with the ones you love so they decided to invite their closest friends and family for a week wedding celebrations in Italy.  They’re dream wedding realised after a year and a half of thoughtful planning, many language barriers, google translate and her dream wedding in mind.

Us together with their family and friends flew from South Africa to Milan, made our way to Florence by train and to the lovely castle situated just before the quite and small little town called Bargino.  Coming from a wintery South Africa we were welcomed with flip flops in the Italian summer.  We immediately started with celebrations and made a festive dinner for the first night.  We made pizza and pasta for breakfast, lunch and dinner and every meal was a celebration.  Every day was an adventure from visits to Florence, Siena, all the historic attractions and small little towns with the best Italian food to a real South Africans braai in Italy.  Bas & Inge got married on the 4th day.

The morning of the wedding started with a nice family breakfast whereafter the bride and groom were separated before the wedding.  The bride and bridesmaids jumped straight into hair and make-up and the groom and groomsmen went into town for a fresh and true Italian Barber hair cut and beard trim before they got ready for the wedding.

This castle made for the perfect setting for Bas & Inge’s wedding.  Their wedding was simplistic and romantic with Olive branch wreaths and beautiful simplistic stationery designs by Inge herself who is a graphic designer.  She kept is clean and editorial.  The olive branches were sprayed with a touch of gold.   One of the guests and Inge’s dear Friend, Simone, put together Inge’s vision on the day by styling the flowers and decor and other elements.  Canapés and welcome drinks were enjoyed with a view for miles and miles over Tuscany and the tables for the reception were set right in the centre of this beautiful castle.

Inge’s sense of fashion and creativity couldn’t stand wearing a normal white wedding gown so this red Carolina Herrera inspired dress was exactly what she wanted.  She asked all the guests to wear white without them knowing her wedding gown will be red, this made her red gown stand out so beautifully.

The catering was true Italian style with cheese boards with every cheese you can think of, zucchini flowers, pastries, breads etc.   Wedding toasts were made to celebrate this couples lives together and honour the bride and grooms’ parents.  Inge’s sister in law who is a jazz artist dedicated the most beautiful song to the couple whereafter they opened the dance floor with the first dance and danced the night away.

Bas & Inge's TUSCANY Engagement | Italy

10/21/2016

Bas and Inge met 11 years ago when he was trying to make her fall in love with one of his friends, it obviously didn't work!  After studies they both decided to go work on yachts and docked at the mediterranean coastline for more than a month, that's when Bas & Inge fell in love with Italy!  Soon after, Bas & Inge got engaged and after experiencing the rich Italian culture an cuisines Bas & Inge couldn't settle for a local wedding.  They loved travelling and they both had the desire to travel to their favourite places with everyone they love!

After a year and a half of thorough planning, many culture differences and language barriers, Bas & Inge with a group a friends and family travelled to Tuscany, Italy for their big day.   I was lucky to have spent an entire week with them in Italy before the wedding day and so we started a week of wedding  celebrations with a spontaneous little engagement shoot just outside of Florence in a very small village called Bargino.  The town was so small after 10 minutes of shooting we pretty much covered the town so we headed to the next town, San Cassiano.  We explored the streets of San Cassiano and admired every little beautiful detail from the doors to the post boxes.  We couldn't resist a little corner pizzeria and ended the session with fresh Italian bread and wine of course.

Their wedding was featured on the well curated International wedding blog, Magnolia Rouge! A full feature of their big day is coming to my blog soon!
